What is Kissflow
An overview of the Kissflow platform: what you can build with it, which building block to use, and where to start.
Kissflow is an AI app development platform for the enterprise. You describe what you want and Kissflow generates it, as a complete app or as the individual building blocks you assemble yourself, and you refine the result from there.
Everything an app needs sits on one platform rather than across separate tools: the pages people use, the data they enter, the workflows that route it, the integrations that reach other systems, and the reporting that shows what is happening. AI reaches each of those. You can have Kissflow suggest a workflow and its steps, build a page or a dataform from a description, generate a custom component, or ask questions of your data in plain language.
Choosing the right building block
The platform gives you several ways to model work, and picking the right one first saves rebuilding later.
- Processes suit structured, sequential work under strict control. A form carries the data along a predefined path of steps until the item is complete, which is what you want for approvals such as purchase requests or leave.
- Boards suit work that moves between statuses rather than down a fixed path. A help desk is the clearest example: tickets arrive, get assigned, and travel through statuses you define. Bug tracking, incidents, and service requests work the same way.
- Apps are the container for everything above. Build one when your use case needs a real multi-page interface, role-based access, and a large group of stakeholders rather than a single quick flow.
- Dataforms capture and store transactional data inside an app, with form-level validations and role-based access.
- Datasets are centralized repositories for master data that several apps reuse, such as vendors, customers, or products.
- Portals extend workflows beyond your own organization, giving vendors, customers, or partners a deliberately limited external-facing interface.
Two more pieces connect everything. Integrations link modules to each other and to third-party systems such as Google Workspace, Salesforce, Slack, and SAP. Analytics turns what flows through your workflows into reports and dashboards, and can feed external BI tools.
Tip
Dataforms and datasets are easy to confuse. Use a dataset for global master data reused across apps, and a dataform for data that belongs to one app, especially when access control matters.
How an app reaches your users
Apps are created in production but built in a separate development environment, so work in progress stays invisible to your users. When it is ready you deploy it, and only then does it appear for the people you shared it with.
Where to start
Kissflow is built for a whole organization rather than one department, so the right starting point depends on what you came to do.
- Use an app someone built for you if you submit forms, track your requests, and act on tasks assigned to you.
- Build your first app if you are creating the pages, forms, and workflows other people will use.
- Set up the account if you manage users, sign-in security, governance, and environments.
- Extend the platform if you are calling the API or building custom components with the SDK.
